It truly is amazing how every experience during our lives becomes the
actual stepping stones to who and what we become. My life started
by being born in Akron, Ohio until my family moved to the suburbs of
Chicago. At the young age of 14 while in high school I joined the
ranks of the American workforce. My wide array of employment
started with McDonald's, followed by employers such as a local Fire
Department, The Quaker Oats Company, and a Waitress until I made the
move that changed my life forever.
When
you are 21, you believe you know and understand everything, therefore
nothing gets in the way of your heartfelt desires. This explains
my move from the Windy City of Chicago, to the beautiful sun and waters
of Honolulu, Hawaii. One year later, I met my future husband.
While living in Hawaii, I began to sell Life Insurance with the
Prudential Insurance Company to the military families stationed
primarily at Hickman Air Force Base. A changed mind and heart of
my husband, brought us to Marietta so that he could attend Life
University. This decision became a lifesaver
of my husbands life!
While
in his early days at Life University he was diagnosed with cancer, the
same type that took Jackie Kennedy Onassis' life, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
We started the recommended treatment course of chemotherapy.
However, we stopped it after only 2 weeks because it seemed to make
little sense to cause the body further stress by the highly destructive
and toxic drugs. Instead we chose to increase the quality of life
in his body through a different unique diet, known as Macrobiotics.
We knew and felt that stronger support to the human body could create
change, therefore health.
Through his daily diet, consistent chiropractic care, and his deep
devotion to a positive attitude and faith, he regained his health.
Much to my surprise 10 years later, God would have a different plan for
my life as well! At the time, I was a flight attendant working for
US Airways when the call came to my heart about becoming a Chiropractor,
too! Mind you, this was NOT my idea, but God knew what was in our
future. Since my husbands' life was given a new chance, I wanted
to give my life back to Chiropractic. Therefore my desire to
become a Doctor of Chiropractic was not my plan, but God's plan.
My
husband started our practice in 1987 off of Powder Springs Rd. and
Bellmeade Drive. He created one of the busiest and most
successful Chiropractic offices in Marietta, Ga. Unfortunately, 16
years after the initial diagnosis his cancer returned which took his
life on December 8, 2000. Because our patients were such a huge
part of our lives, I can only now see why God had me become a
chiropractor. With the love, appreciation, dedication, and
commitment we share with our patients it makes sense why it was left to
me to continue. The passing of Dr. Bob Porter was not only a loss
to me, but a tremendous loss to our patients and our entire community.

Our
dedication as chiropractors has never been because it is our job, but
because it is our love and desire to help people live a better life by
helping them to make more informed choices regarding their health.
Looking back over my life, I can now see how every experience has helped
me to become who I am. Every job of mine has given me the
necessary tools for being successful today, the customer service I've
learned, the organizational skills, selling the intangibles like life
insurance and health, and the know how of dealing with emergencies.
All of these combined, has groomed me for my life today, to serve you as
a competent, loving and dedicated chiropractor to help change lives with
healing hands and a caring heart.
